Abigail McDonough, LMSW
Hi, I am Abigail McDonough, a licensed graduate social worker and psychotherapist at Core Counseling. I graduated with my social work degree from the University of Michigan. Since becoming a social worker, I have had the opportunity to work in both community mental health and hospital settings, supporting clients through various life stages and challenges.
I take a client-centered, strengths-based approach to therapy, which allows me to tailor our work to your specific needs and goals. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Positive Psychology, to create a personalized plan that helps you move forward.
Choosing to start therapy is a significant and courageous step. In my practice, I strongly believe that you are the expert in your own life. Everyone’s background and experiences are different, and I am here to meet you exactly where you are, listening to your story and honoring what has shaped you. I see therapy as a collaborative process, where we work together to provide you with the tools, space, and support you need to grow and heal. I look forward to working with you!
